Reuse can mean a variety of things, but in simple terms think of reuse as the repeated use of a product or material in its original form. For example, you can purchase a used book rather than buying a new book and you can donate a used book rather than discarding it. Reuse is important because it saves natural resources and reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills. Reuse is actually better for the environment than recycling because recycling requires resources, time and money to process materials or products into new usable items. Also important is to reduce the amount of waste generated and ultimately landfilled. There are many ways that you can reduce the anount of waste you generate at home at home or work, such as buying in bulk and using cloth napkins. Reuse is one means of reducing the amount of waste we generate. There is a state law which requires local cities and counties to reduce the amount of waste generated by their residents and businesses. This reuse directory has been developed in cooperation with various local government agencies to promote waste reduction. Many forms of reuse help those in need. There are many options to reuse consumer goods; you can donate, sell, consign, or trade your unwanted items, and you can repair or rent items you do need rather than purchase a new product. Additionally, you can reuse everyday items yourself such as cardboard boxes, shopping bags and storage containers (such as glass jars or coffee cans).
