Welcome to our Contests page. Here you will find results of past contests put on by Recycle More. We regret that we will not be offering our popular Recycling or Essay Contests for Spring 2014.  Due to staffing restraints we are unable to do so. This and other popular school programs are under review. Check back for updates to this program in the fall. Thank you for your understanding and support.

Elementary School Essay Contest - Kindergarten thru 6th Grade

Thank You to All Who Entered the 2013 Spring Elementary School Essay Contest - SEE THE LIST OF WINNERS BELOW!!!

In addition to the overall contest winners, we received classroom submissions from a handful of teachers and will be rewarding their students with “Classroom Winner” prizes. The classrooms being honored are: Mrs. Chen’s & Mrs. William’s 6th grade classes (Sheldon Elementary); Mr. Howard’s 6th grade class (Downer Elementary); Ms. Farrell’s 4th grade class (Valley View Elementary); and Ms. Stillford’s 3rd grade class (Peres Elementary).

Entrants were asked to:
Submit a 300 maximum word essay addressing one of the two following topics:

1.Why is littering bad for the environment?
2.Why are reusable shopping bags better for the environment than plastic & paper bags?

 

Middle School and High School "Go Green" Contest 2013

Check Out the 2013 Winners of the Middle School and High School Students "Go Green" Contest Below!!!

Students were asked to create a project in one of the 3 following media categories on one of two topics - Producer Responsibility OR Consumer Responsibility:

1. Video - PSA, music video, spoof, play, etc.
2. Writing - Essay, poem, song, rap, letter, etc.
3. Art - Drawing, painting, comic strip, flip book, etc.

Producer Responsibility - a system in which the producer of a product/service, takes responsibility for the waste that results from the product/service. Examples of producer responsibility include the following: reducing materials used in production, making repairable or recyclable good, installing a take-back program for their goods, and reducing packaging.


Consumer Responsibility - actions taken by consumers to make informed, sustainable decisions when buying products/services. Examples of consumer responsibility include purchasing recycled products, using products for their entire life capacity, and buying reusable products.
